Forum Group Program

For 25 years, Family Business Association's Forum Group Program has been helping guide family business leaders, executive and CEOs in Australia through unique issues created by the overlay of family, business and ownership.

The Forum Group Program is a confidential space where participants can raise tough issues and talk them through. Members, who have had similar experiences, offer their insights while being guided by a professional group facilitator.

Running a family business can be extremely rewarding but it does come with a number of complexities and challenges.

“One of the greatest secrets of FBA is the Forum Group Program. Three of my sons are members of forum groups and I’ve watched them all grow from it. They have access to what is essentially their own private board of directors.

  • Forum Groups are made up of 6-10 family business leaders, executives and CEOs from non-competing businesses. Forum group members are bound by confidentiality and are encouraged to speak freely as they share concerns and potential strategies with like-minded leaders.

A rigorous application process ensures that applicants and forum groups are matched to protect confidentiality and avoid conflicts of interest for all participants.

  • Monthly meetings with leaders experienced with family business culture and mechanisms. A safe space to share your ideas, talk through roadblocks, view your issues through a different lens and gain moral support. The groups instil accountability and knowledge sharing with countless generations of experience distilled through the participants.

Family Business Forum groups are a platform to learn from your peers and drive positive change across your areas of concern.

An opportunity to make lifelong connections and help you grow.

Topics of discussion are guided by the members and may include:

    • Family business succession planning
    • Conflict resolution
    • Family business dynamics
    • Business and strategic planning
    • Governance
    • Emerging markets and business trends

    • Human resources

    • Sales and marketing

    • Business leadership

    • Organisational behaviour and psychology
